Maintenance of the grill plate:
Before the cast iron plate is used for the first time, it must be seasoned.
Seasoning is done as follows: first the plate must be thoroughly cleaned with water and dishwashing liquid. Then put it in the oven or on the barbecue (160-200 degrees) and heat the grill plate for at least thirty minutes. Then clean the plate thoroughly with a cloth or kitchen paper.
Then grease it with Crisco, clarified butter or rice oil and remove the excess fat with a cloth or kitchen paper. Place the plate back in the oven or on the barbecue and heat it for an hour. Then let it cool and remove the excess fat. When the plate has cooled, grease it one more time. Heat it again for an hour in the oven or on the barbecue. The grill plate is now ready for use.
