Maintenance of the grill rack:
Before the cast iron grill is used for the first time, it must be seasoned.
Seasoning is done as follows: first the grill must be thoroughly cleaned with water and dishwashing liquid. Then put it in the oven or on the barbecue (160-200 degrees) and heat the grill for at least thirty minutes. Then clean the grill thoroughly with a cloth or kitchen paper.
Then grease the grill with Crisco, clarified butter or rice oil and remove the excess fat with a cloth or kitchen paper. Place the rack back in the oven or on the barbecue and heat it for an hour. Then let it cool and remove the excess fat. When the rack has cooled, grease it one more time. Heat the rack again for an hour in the oven or on the barbecue. Now the grid is ready for use.
